Number 22: Read 101 Books and Number 2: Get a New Job

Sincerest apologies for the delay in updating, the move had me rather busy. Though be amazed for in that time I have read not just one, not two, but three whole books!!

I Left My Tent in San Francisco by Emma Kennedy was a touching and funny conclusion to her two separate camping biographies, and her parents did feature slightly. Of the two, I'm not sure I could pick a favourite. Though as a pair and individual novels, I love them both dearly.

The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas isn't the kind of book I'd normally go for; like Home and Away meets East Enders but with more drugs. And sex. The latter almost entirely behind the backs of their respective partners. In fact, it was very rare that any of the married couples actually had sex with the person they were married to. But despite the often bizarre, drug fuelled, sex fuelled scenarios, the actual human content was interesting, gossipy and well laid.

A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French had echoes of The Slap but with the sex and drugs taken out. I found it much more enjoyable, the characters were all more likeable and the writing was full of life and humour. There were some very French moments, you could really hear her voice especially through the mother. Unlike a lot of celebrity fuelled written ventures, it linked well and was clever. Certainly worthy of an essay or two at GCSE.

So, five down and 96 to go. Yikes...

To celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary, the husband and I bought each other Kindles, so that is going to be a definite and instrumental help in my reading mission.

OK, on to Number 2: Get a New Job. I don't want to reveal much now; I don't want to jinks myself, but I say that for certain, for absolute certain, I will not be working at Oxford Street by September.
